I can't believe I have not seen this shop before I started doing research on Israeli shops! Though I cannot do them myself, I am a fan of beautiful ceramic trinkets. And the work that Elly does for Vishnya is just too cute to resist! Especially the tiny bunnies and the magical dragons. Damn, I want a magical dragon for myself, but I will probably need to dish out a larger amount for courier through Fedex or DHL in order to ship it to Malaysia. T_T Curses to Pos Malaysia for not shipping to/fro Israel! Anyways, you should check the shop out for more fantasy-esque creations. The amount of details in some of the ceramic pieces is just stunning!

Once again, I must declare my love for colors! I am absolutely adoring this shop called The Joy of Colors, (love the name!) and as the name implies, the shop is in all shades of fabulous colors! There is a raw and organic nature to the watercolor paintings, that is simple but at the same time beautiful in it's simplicity. My personal favorite pieces are of course the abstract geometric artworks like the colorful fish tail and the stork. But I am loving the stacks of kitchenware as well. Another type of craft that I totally adore are clay craft! And in a similar context - clay jewelry. Rafya had always been a favorite of mine, I think the first time I saw her jewelry was when I stumbled upon the Princess Necklace (top left) probably from the front page, although I might have remembered wrongly. (it was so long ago) But I still love it! The way she assembles the necklaces is unique as well. It's not just a necklace chain to a pendant, but there are little detailing in the chain that makes it that much more special. Aside from cold clay jewelry, she sells some other more regular thing as well. But somehow the whole shop just goes together so perfectly. Fantastic shop!

How Important is Photography for Selling Online?

When you are selling online, the customer cannot touch, feel or look at your product from multiple angles. Your product is stuck in a 2D state on the screen. So when asked how important is photography for selling online, I reckon it's probably the most important aspect of all.

Here is a sample case study.

I made this heart Swarovski necklace last valentine. It did not sell. This was the original photo that I took of it early last year. Then late last year, I decided to re-photograph some of the older pieces because I was unsatisfied with their old photos.

This is the new photo of the necklace.

And it sold! All three of them to be exact! I only had 3 Swarovski crystals of this shape and color, and it was all sold out!

The new photo is simple and direct, I did not try too hard with the set-up, and it shows the product clearly. It took me about 1 minute to lay the necklace on a piece of paper and snap the picture. :)

Visual impression is the most important for online purchases. If you sell commercially mass produced items like stationary, books, displays or even supplies, the buyer probably already know what quality product they are expecting. That is why you see loads of disastrous photos on eBay.

But for handmade goods it is a different thing altogether. These products are handmade by you, you and yourself only. (okay, admittedly the necklace above can be easily replicated) But you get my point. Your products are not something out there in the market that the buyer could easily relate to and have quality expectations of. You need to give the buyer a strong visual impression to lure them to click on your item, and hopefully purchase it! People say that the first impression is the strongest, it cannot be true enough for handmade items. If you look at my sold listings of the necklace above, only the first photo is a new one, the others are still the old photos. And yet the sales stat is so drastically different.

I dare not say that I am very professional with product photography, but I do try and improve. Experiment on new techniques, take from a different angle, try different set-ups. Around the World - Israel - lonkoosh

Now that we're done with the whole African continent, let's target a country nearby. Israel is a natural pick, as I've seen some fantastic shops from Israel before. But what I did not expect is the amount of fabulous shops that are based in Israel!! I can easily find 15 great shops in one search. But after looking through and much careful picking, I finally nailed down to 10... yes I know that is still a huge list, but I cannot or couldn't drop anymore shops from the list. They are just that good!

Too bad there are some disputes between Malaysia's and Israel's foreign relations, as I don't think I can ship things to Israel nor ship things from Israel, at least not going through the national post company.

Anyways, without further ado, here is the first fabulous shop from Israel!

My breath was taken away when I first laid eyes on lonkoosh's jewelry. When I regained my breath, I took my own sweet time to enjoy every little detail and loving care that Alona put into her beautiful art pieces. The delicate arrangement and the color choices are just so exquisite. Every bangle, hairband and comb is a unique artwork on it's own. If you love unique, romantic, shabby chic jewelry with a vintage flair, you should definitely check out this fantastic shop!

February'11 Rejects Giveaway

Remember the Failed Specimens post I posted a while ago? Well, I had gained and collected a few more rejects ever since. It comes with the territory I guess, hahaha. But this time, these rejects are not as bad as the ones I showed you before. However, I still feel that they are not good enough and should not be listed in the shop. At the same time I do not want to waste them either. So what should I do?

Maybe I should give them away!

And that was how the monthly rejects giveaway came to be. Every month I will hold a giveaway to give out one or two failed jewelry pieces - mainly resin pendants with impurities, obvious bubbles, resin seeping into the paper etc, even designs that I decided that I did not really like. Some of these mistakes are not very obvious and it can only be seen up close. So they can be worn without much worries!

This month I am giving away a rectangle raspberry pendant and a raindrop oval pendant!

The raspberry pendant has a huge bubble at the lower left corner, if you look hard enough you will be able to see it. And the raindrop pendant... well I decided that the design might not work for my shop. So this is an OOAK pendant!!

Around the World - Africa - Patterns by Faima

This is probably going to be the last Around the World post featuring countries from the African continent, unless there is a sudden uprising of African shops on Etsy in the new future. I had actually expected more from this country, but apparently I can be wrong too!

This week, we'll be in Egypt!

By looking at the shops alone, you wouldn't have thought that this could be a shop from Egypt, but it is! Patterns by Faima is a beautiful shop from Cairo, Egypt, selling PDF patterns of gorgeous knit and crochet wear. That cowl is absolutely gorgeous! I reckon these would be great for knitters and crocheters. :) Now if only I know how to knit, or can find the use of knit wear in the humid Malaysian weather...

New Pendant Shapes and Sizes

I (kind of) unintentionally came upon a new stock of resin lately, and since they (also kind of) has an expiry date, I figured I should utilize them to the fullest and make more (and more!) pendants. And since the pendants are well received, I thought it was about time to expand and provide more options in the collection. :)

A large, round pendant setting. I am loving this one! It has a gorgeous backing with a tree etched in it. This will come in a longer chain, am thinking 30 inch.

A rectangle one that you've probably seen in a failed specimen photo before this. I finally have a successful specimen! And a round version for my existing vintage victorian laced pendant setting.

Of course, I have more planned and experimenting on new things as well, and enjoying it in the process! Will be listing these into the shop over the week. :)

Wicked Plants Book Review

Just finished this fantastic book over my long Chinese New Year holiday. I must first admit though, I am not a huge book reader myself, with an average of one book a year, hahaha. What can I say, I am a picky reader.

But this book by Amy Stewart - Wicked Plants, is totally right up my alley. Not only was it educational, (for my own safety too!) it was such a fun read! Imagine a pocket-sized encyclopedia written in the style of a witty mystery/thriller, and you get this book. I mean, who could have known that corn if consumed as a main diet, can cause pellagra and it killed hundreds of thousands in the history of mankind? And tobacco being the deadliest plant on earth, having taken millions of lives every year. Not to mention the betel nut native to Malaysia, or more known as buah pinang locally, has intoxicating effects?

The more you know...

Aside from that, the editing of the book has a vintage flair to it, with beautifully suitable illustrations that somehow enhanced the eeriness of the content. The book is just plain gorgeous!

Leaving Kenya, our next stop is almost on the other side of the African continent - Ghana. This shop is also for a wonderful cause. :)

Handmade by the women in the Buduburam Refugee Camp locating in Ghana, SCHEFO is a fair trade fashion line consisting of jewelry and various clothing such as tops and skirts, among others. These are all made of authentic African and Ghanaian materials. The tribal patterns for the clothing as well as the design would make these fantastic as summer wear! :) Not only will you look totally fashionable, you will be helping single mothers and children in the refugee camp as well.

Although an English born, there is still something very African to Harriet Stanes's illustrations, most probably due to it's subjects, haha. I have to admit, some of the scenes in his paintings I sometimes also see in Malaysia too, especially in the more rural areas like where my grandparents live. The lively, comedic and simplistic style of Harriet's paintings is something that you can easily fall in love with. I mean, how can you not smile while looking at his illustrations? (and the subjects)

Around the World - Africa - Kiki Weavers

Initially I had wanted to select another country in Africa to feature, but unfortunately, I found out the hard way that African shops are close to non-existence on Etsy. How sad is that? :( But I found a few very meaningful ones that are scattered across Africa, so I'm going to make an exception this time and treat the whole continent of Africa (except South Africa) as a country.

Though let's be clear here and set the facts right, Africa is a continent, not a country. ;)

Our first stop, let's go to Kenya!!

Comprised of a group of women in Kenya, Kiki Weavers is a source of precious income for these women living in poverty, having many children to raise. The baskets are made of water hyacinth, an invasive plant species known for choking waterways. The harvesting of these plants and turning them into baskets is a difficult and time consuming process, but it is also very inspiring to know how much time and effort had been put into each beautiful basket. I love fabrics! I really do! I love hoarding them, I just don't know how to sew lol. (maybe I should learn some day) So what I respect more than a person that knows how to sew, is a person that can sew AND create/design her own fabrics. Transforming her unique drawings onto fabrics, Heather Moore from Skinny laMinx creates fashionable cushion covers, tea towels and even aprons from them. My favorite design? Definitely the teacup one, just so cute! :) She also sells her fabric by the meter if you're interested in making other stuff from them. Check it out!

Nature Mandalas

You know what type of photography that I cannot do? Animal Photography. Although I did managed to capture a picture of a squirrel when I was in San Francisco, but that was pure luck and chance. I do not have the patience to wait for animals to appear to shoot their photograph. (or the luck)

So when I find a fantastic shop like Nature Mandalas, with tons of photographs of birds, (small animals like birds are especially difficult for me) woodland critters and stunning flora photography, I am completely floored. That is probably one of the main reasons why I chose to get their super cute calendar. And the calendar is indeed, super cute! The paper is a bit more flimsy than I had hoped, (I prefer slightly more heavy weight cardstock papers) but it is photographic paper after all, and the printing quality is still pretty fabulous.

Hailing from a small sheep and cattle farm in South Africa called Bethulie, Helga McLeod paints polar bears and other whimsical subjects on canvas, paper or wood. What more? Although from such a vibrant city such as Cape Town, South Africa, there is still something haunting about Annie Kruyer's works in fineheartworks. Even her photos of the African wild life! Perhaps it is the desaturated photos with the slightly grungy texturing, that added an eerie quietness to the look. Perhaps it is the composition of the photographs as well. But whatever it is, Annie Kruyer may had shown us another side of vibrant Africa. It is nice to see different photos like this for a change, different from the ones we usually see in National Geographic.

Nutella Milk

Do you love nutella? Because I LOVE nutella! Among my favorite ways to eat nutella is spreading them on banana slices and eat straight out of the jar. All good things comes to an end though, the jar of nutella will be finished one day. But it is such a shame to throw the jar away when there is still so much nutella goodness sticking to the walls of the jar. So I decided that I should not waste them, let's make nutella milk!

Ingredients:
1. (almost) Empty jar of nutella.
2. Milk.

Instructions:
Warm milk up a little bit. Use the microwave to nuke the milk if it's fresh out of the fridge, remember to use a microwaveable mug! The warm milk would help melt the nutella faster, so you could finish sooner. Pour the warm milk into the nutella jar, shut tight and shake vigorously!! Continue shaking until you are tired, those nutella bits can be pretty stubborn.

Pour nutella milk into a mug, and enjoy! Or even drink straight out of the nutella jar if you want.

I like mine cold and served in my awesome Cthulhu mug! Which is my go-to mug when I want to nuke any drinks. (mostly milk) I got him at the Renegade Craft Fair in San Francisco from Skeletal Dropkick. The nutella milk is mild and delicious, and tasted perfect with huey&wah's super delicious and rich chocolate marshmallows!

And how does the nutella jar look like in the end?

Here it is, totally emptied out. Save for teenee tiny bits left at the bottom of the jar. Yes, I was very very rigorous with my shaking. My arm got a pretty good work out that day when I made this nutella milk. :) The result was all worth the effort though! Yum yum!

It is time to travel the world once more! This time, let's start from the downward up and try to tackle the world's 2nd largest continent - Africa. Our first stop - South Africa! Let's see what they have to offer.

Had you ever fancy yourself as a scientist? Splicing DNAs of different species and creating something new? Although being artists, we cannot really or know how to splice DNAs, we could definitely let our imaginations run wild! And that is what Rob Foote did. :) The illustrations from his 'Samples from the Lab' series plays fun on words such as Chillidog, (chilli + dog) Walnut, (walrus + nut) and Dandylion (dandelion + lion) just to name a few. These quirky and amusing illustrations would certainly be a great gift for a science nerd friend! :) Best of all, 10% of the funds made from the sales would go to the World Wild Life fund, so what's not to support?

Since I was young, I always have an adoration to horses. The novel "Black Beauty" had always been one of my favorite books growing up. Although my love for horses had somewhat dimmed down as I grew up, having found many many more new loves in my life hehe, I still find them very beautiful. :)

I was ecstatic when I found Wild Hoofbeats! A photography shop full of beautiful photographs of wild horses, just stunning. It is truly a wonderful sight to see these horses running freely in the wild like that, very different from the horses in stables. (which are the only horses I ever really seen) The foals are so cute too, don't you agree? :)

You have no idea how happy I am to see graffiti photography, it is almost like a dying art on Etsy. There is just a certain daring grunginess and charm to it, and Eyeshoot Photography captures them superbly. (what a creative name too!) I just love the rich colors and the witty messages in some of her photography, it put a smile on my face. And I love photographs that does that. :) Aside from graffiti photography, she also does the occasional floral and travel photography. Which makes her the more interesting!

I spend the New Year weekend retaking pictures of old, expired listings. (that I am too ashamed to renew because it had crappy photos) And voila~

Compared to like... what? These??

What a big difference a DSLR and 1+ years of product photography makes. The older shoots were taken with my Olympus Point and Shoot camera, and I even vaguely remember that I was proud of them! What was I thinking?

Anyways, I suddenly feel the motivation to make more of these bracelets. They were a lot of fun to put together. And since I have a larger bead collection now, it might be more fun!

To anyone that is reading this, happy new year!! May 2012 be a brand new year with lots of personal growth and abundant joy and inspirations. Indeed, there are a lot of amazing adventures ahead!

I don't have the habit of having new year resolutions, but I can see how that can be motivational in the long run. So here are my resolutions!

Start a second shop on Etsy. Probably selling prints or other type of paper-related home decor wares. Who knows, I might even start a supplies destashing shop!
Reach 600 sales in Skyejuice by the end of 2012!
Work hard, but also remember to play harder! My Xbox is feeling lonely.
Draw more! Current goal - one artwork per month! I might even start a tumblr account to post random sketches and photographs.
Update this blog more promptly! (trying, really I'm trying!)
~~Lose weight.~~

And maybe, just maybe, I can quit my day job this year! But that remains to be seen.

What I love about The Paper Machines, is not just the obviously unique look of their items, and no, it is not just their superbly represented photography as well. I always love laced ceramic looks, and no one does it better than Prince Design UK. I'm sure if you are on Etsy a lot you might have seen her work around before. Most ceramic shops on Etsy sell the same things over and over, mugs, bowls, vases etc. I like that she tries to be different by creating decor items instead. Sure, they may not be as practical, but it sure makes her stand out! I love love love her ceramic butterflies. But then again, I have a thing for butterflies as well, ahaha, that may be why.

Aside from being a team leader for Team Etsy Malaysia, another team that I am actively participating is my treasury team - Curation Nation. We had a Secret Santa event this year, and look what I got in the mail last week!

I was told that it was going to be late due to the international location, but the parcel arrived just on time, early even! Perhaps they are more efficient this year. :) Although it was not Christmas yet, but I have the compulsive mail-opening-on-arrival disorder, and opened it on the spot. Sorry secret santa!!

Do you know that it takes massive amount of patience just to take these photos before I open them? Yes, I'm that excited to find out what is it. One more layer of packaging underneath, and doesn't this look so cute? :) Finally, after snapping this photo I proceeded to rip it open.

And look what I got!

TEA!!! I GOT TEA!!!! Thank you soooo much to Darcy from Splurge for getting these for me! She was my lovely secret santa! I mentioned that I loooove tea and I also made a wishlist some time ago. So she got me these lovely and oh-so-fragrant tea from The Hedgerow, which also happens to be a teamie of Curation Nation.

I haven't tried the tea yet though, I'm still waiting for my tea infuser to arrive. I had been looking for one since last month. You know... the ball with a chain type? But I couldn't find any in local tea shops or supermarkets. So I decided to get one online instead since my loose tea leaf collection is growing. (I got some loose tea leaves from another friend a while ago too) For now, I'll just settle with sniffing while I wait. The smell of these tea leaves are soooo strong and enticing!

Sometimes, the best gifts are the gifts that you got for yourself. :) It is true in my case, because my family doesn't really celebrate Christmas. We never had a Christmas tree, no sock stuffing, no gift wrapped presents. But I still wish to feel a little festive myself, so I pamper myself in this holiday season.

The question is, what did I get?

SAVOR SOAP!!! My Christmas wouldn't be complete without Savor soap. I love love love Clarity! (the blue one) The refreshing smell was immediately recognizable when I opened the mail. Am using Hot Maple Toddy now because the shrink wrap broke at a little corner, and mmm it smells so deliciously like mild caramel. The other two had a milder scent too, and I can't really smell it through the shrink wrap, but I bet they smell amazing too! They are Chocolate Cardamom (top) and Vanilla Pinecones. (bottom)

Unfortunately Lisa from Savor had to have an emergency eye surgery, and her shop is closed atm while she recovers. Here's to hoping she recovers soon! She is the sweetest person I've ever had the honor to talk to. :)

More soap from Cat's Little Corner! You see, I'm a bit of a soap collector myself haha. And isn't her soap just so pretty? Unfortunately though, her packaging is a little bit not so travelling-friendly for her soap. They did not arrive as pretty as it looks on her photo, smudges on the plastic and lots of chips stuck at corners. The soap's smell is pretty mild, but very nice.

I finally decided on a calendar to get! It is more flexible too so I can move things around when I feel like it. :)

Super Busy!!

Probably one of the longest pearl clustered anything I've ever done! And I'm doing not one, but three! Eep!! I sure hope I can get it done in the weekend.

Aside from working on orders, I've also picked up a logo design job, volunteered to complete a children's storybook free of charge for a non profit organization, have new pieces to work on for an upcoming convention, and a roleplay community to run. Marisa from Modulem creates a series of art, ranging from illustrations to collages, and from book art to travel photography. Although she has quite some interesting illustrations in her shop, but I am still most impress by her book art! There is just a certain chaotic yet poetic look to them, some more so than others, but each uniquely beautiful. If only she is really selling the sculptures though! From the land of USA, let's travel up north and cross the borders into Canada! Let's stop by Ottawa first before we fly elsewhere. I wonder what handmade goods this city has to offer?

I've always been very fascinated with the resin medium as well as preserved flora and fauna jewelry. Although there are a lot of common ones you see on the market, but you probably haven't seen anything like Rosella Resin's. Who knows that a simple feather or even moss would look so good on your wrist? I love that their mould is faceted instead of the regular smooth round one, (of course they have that too) it just looks so unique and organic, further enhancing the subject that they preserved in the resin. I think I am in love with that red heather bangle... And best of all, the resin they use is eco friendly too!

If you are a fan of steampunk, you would go crazy over this. I have seen a lot of shops that makes and sell steampunk accessories on Etsy, but none better than Cosmic Firefly. Although he uses a lot of the ready made charms such as the octopus and owls, but it is the way he incorporates these items into his work that sets him apart. Who would have thought that these two could be put together to create something new? Making a large variety of items such as cigarette cases, flasks, business card cases and cufflinks, his shop would be a wonderful place to shop for gifts for those picky men as well. :)

Extremely sorry for missing a few day's post there, it's just that the closer it is to Thanksgiving and the looming Black Friday, the busier I get! Although we don't really celebrate Thanksgiving over here, I still have a few family gatherings in the weekend, large orders to finish and even have to arrange some faulty supplies to be sent back to the supplier among other things.

But just look at those awesome spiked and studded shoes and accessories! If that is not the epitome of fierceness, I don't know what is. I could totally see Lady Gaga in these. ;) My personal favorite however are the glass shard white stilettos, the glass shards just look so cool on it. Now if only I could wear heels so high....

Zodiac in Laces Pendants

You've seen the sneak peek, now it's time to unveil the truth. May I present the Zodiac in Laces pendants! I'm so excited for this as I've not made any new designs for hand drawn pendants. Plus it was tons of fun designing the different lace patterns.

For now they are only available as is, with their preset lace design and paper color, but in the near future I fully intend to make them customizable. I tried to match the colors with the zodiac's elements as close as possible, with my available paper choices.

I've thought of making customizable initials in this format too, but... let's take it a step at a time shall we? I'll have to see how well these sell first. :)

Even if you don't know boygirlparty by name, but you've probably seen their work before on Etsy. At least, that was the case with me hehe. My first encounter was with their To-do list notepad that Etsy featured in a blog post. I just love their whimsical and uniquely adorable drawing style, that owl is especially memorable! And the way they use their colors, and the abundant patterns and texture, you just can't help but smile as you look at them. Not only paper products, they also produce a wide variety of merchandises with their adorable artworks such as t-shirts, jewelry, pocket mirrors and magnets. Check out their shop for more!

Coming from a family of woodworkers and furniture makers, (my grandpa used to make furniture for a living, and my dad likes to build things, although he did not pursue a woodworking career) I have a high respect for people that excels in this craft. Since I've dealt a little bit into woodwork when I was younger too and I know it is all hard work. So when I found The Modern Project, I was immediately in awe.

He doesn't have a lot in his Etsy shop, but every piece is a masterpiece. I love how unconventional the coffee tables look, and although it may not work for a lot of homes, it was something different, something unique to the maker himself - Curtis Micklish. Crafty Art Market happened last weekend again! I feel so proud as a team leader of Team Etsy Malaysia. The market itself is a collaboration effort between the team and the main organizer from Jaya One, and to see that it had lasted a year and grown so much, it just makes me feel so happy. :')

And oddly enough, I had become the market's unofficial appointed photographer? Since I do not have a booth (again) and was just a visitor, so I had time to roam around and take pictures! And trust me, it is a lot of work as well. What with the socializing with each booth owner and all.

When I first encounter ArchetypeZ, I was totally blown away and I knew that I had to include her for my San Diego features. All her laser cut and 3D printer jewelry pieces are just so modern and cool! Especially the barcode cuff, that is my favorite. :) I also love the Because U Love Me ring and how the words pop up instead of laying down on the ring base. I simply adore how she designed her jewelry using just simple shapes like triangles and squares, creating such intricate and complicated pieces at the same time.

What is better than a good photography shop, is a constantly updated photography shop with new photographs! Especially one that follows the changes of the season. Madden Photography is one of such wonderful shops, I simply adore her autumn pieces! The gentle hues of her photos, almost pastel-like, is what I love most about it. Everything just look so clean and fresh! Plus... who wouldn't love that Ukelele Surfer Santa photograph? It would be awesome as a greeting or postcard!

Deep Within the Armoire, the name has such a mysterious tone to it, and so did the shop! There is just an unmistakable tone of surrealism and mystery to all her photography, even with a hint of the innocence of a fairy tale. Each and every single of her photographs, especially from the "Strange Reality" series, seems to tell a story of their own, a story of a girl escaping something. Unintentionally, I somehow managed to arrange the photos above to somehow tell a story too! But I must stress, that it is indeed, unintentional.

Ginger, my long haired orange cat, is very territorial! Once a young kitten walked pass my front gates and she chased the poor thing away, clawing and biting. One back alley cat came into my yard once too, probably looking for food. She hissed and scratched and scared the poor thing away as well.

Despite all those, I still love her! She keeps all the mice at bay. :)

But she's so shy though! I can't seem to get a photo of her where she is looking into the lens!

Now that we're done in Phoenix, Arizona, our second stop in US is San Diego in California! And it looks like San Diego is a very promising city for fantastic handmade wares! I might need to do more than just 4... ;)

First off we have REDSTARink with her simple, bold and modern paper goods. I love the thoughtfulness that she put into her designs, especially with her notebooks. The shape and size was so well thought out to suit the notebook's purpose. The prime example is the elongated shape of the Long list notebook, which is perfect for well.. your long to-do list. ;) Also, the design for her Bills Calendar is just so clever! The way the elastic band goes across the letter S creating a $ sign is just pure genius! Aside from fantastic notebooks which as you can see I totally adore, she also makes pretty awesome cards, art prints and gift tags.

Around the World - Phoenix, AZ - The Lonely Heart

We have seen a lot of Etsy shops that are category-specific, like jewelry shops, photography shops, bag shops etc etc. These are plenty on Etsy. But what about a theme-specific shop? The Lonely Heart I would consider to be in this category. They sell a variety of items, such as wall art, photography prints, wedding favors and even supplies and vintage goods, but with a single theme - Hearts and love. I find this to be very intriguing, as it is very rare for a shop to be so theme-specific. With that said, I love the wooden heart wall art with the barb wires, very symbolic and very cool. :)

Failed Specimens

Like all forms of arts and crafts, it takes time and lots of trial and error to get something right. And the path to perfection is a long and difficult one. It's no different with me and my pendants.

This is just one part of my failed specimens. Up until now, I still get a few spoiled ones every time I pour that cup of resin. So far I only had one batch that did not spill, seep into the paper, or riddled with bubbles.

The rectangle pendants are new, this is my first experiment. I have no idea what happened to it! Suffice to say, these are going to the dumpster. Such a pity, I liked the snow rabbit too. :(

This one I accidentally broke through the sealant while I was trying to remove a bubble. So the resin seeped into the paper. :(

It's such a waste, as these could not be sold or even given away. As someone who take pride in her work, I will never let someone have something that is flawed! So all these are going into the dumpster, or maybe I should just keep them for myself as a reminder, not to repeat these mistakes again.

Well I might have found the best place to shop for gifts for him/her. :) Using photographs of retro cameras, vintage record players, cassettes and other retro items, blueorder makes them into a variety of retro wall and table arts, coasters, pendant necklaces and even dry erase boards! How innovative is that? Appropriate too. Furthermore, their shop is very man-friendly. And we know how rare that could be with Etsy! ;)

In my opinion, no amount of western gore in horror movies can inflict the type of fear that the unknown and faceless-ness inflicts. These quietly eerie photos from Aelalabbe reminded me the classic horrors such as Sadako from The Ring (not the Americanize one, the original Japanese one) among other Asian horror movies. No excessive blood needed, just the unnatural and unknown.

Do you love nature inspired wedding dresses? I know I do. :) KT Jean Designs creates some of the most romantic and elegant wedding dresses, some even with the free spirited touch of the bohemian style. My favorite part though, is that she makes short wedding dresses too! How cute is that? :D I also love that she keeps her photographs consistent and true to it's natural theme, just beautiful!
